Morris 27 JV Blue 14 Atherton 0 JV White 6 Vassar 24 JV Black Vassar Varity Blue 14 Mt Morris 8 Varsity White 0 Carmen Ainsworth 20 The Freshman Blue team upped its record to 2-0 Saturday with a strong performance, beating the Atherton Wolverines 34-13. Ben Thornton scored 3 offensive touchdowns and one defensive touchdown as he returned an interception for a score. He also kicked two extra points.Andrew Jackson, Brendan Whitney, Dakota Holzwarth, Kaelan Harbin, Thomas Talbot, Ryan Franks, Davison Emery, Ryan Hugan, Liam King and Jake Hawes all provided some great blocking on the offensive line that paved the way for the backs to gain many yards. Mitchell Bollinger got his first touchdown of the year on a strong run around the left end. Peyton Knoll, Gunner Lamb, Nik Brost and Bryce Davis all played well from their offensive backfield positions. Jack Wolgast, Rob Bentley, Lamb, Jackson, Talbot, Zach Webb, Jared Smith and Thornton lead a swarming Blue Devil defense that allowed very little running room to the Wolverines. The Blue Devils travel to Bendle this Saturday to take on the Tigers in a 3:00 p.m. contest. A special thanks goes out to our awesome group of cheerleaders who cheered loud and strong all game long! Their push-ups were outstanding! The JV Black team came out on the short side today against a good Vassar team. We got our first score on a run by Kyle Tercheck around the right end for a 15 yard score. The touchdown was sprung by great blocking from Colton Schlitters, Nicholas Mitchell, Stryker DeGayner, and Joe Ocenasek. The extra point kick was made by Edward Walterhouse. Joe Boughner had the kickoff duties and did a great job placing the ball in the holes. The defense kept the game close in the first half with some great pursuit and tackling from Edward Walterhouse, Neil Allor, Cole Baldwin, Garret Pooler, and Matthew Hoppe. We did not get our second score until the 4th quarter. It was a 60 yard 10 play drive. Layne Owen caught his first pass of the year for 10 yards on the drive. Stryker DeGayner had a nice run for 15 yards and Merrick George was 3 for 4 passing on the drive with great pass blocking from Zack Hendricks The drive was capped off by a dive play to Ed Walterhouse from the 2 yard line.
