The Lake Fenton Blue Devil Freshmen Blue
Cheerleading squad of Mackenzie Adams, Kaley Conover, Brooklynn Cotter, Emma
Donnelly, Chloe Frey, Brianne Gilsoul, Sydney Herm, Emily Laga, Kimberly Roe,
Danielle Sides, C.J. Simon, Halee Tolbert, Allison Valentine and Sabrina Welch
cheered to Blue Team on to victory Saturday as the Blue Devils beat Birch Run,
19 to 0. The Freshmen White team lost 24-8 against
Birch Run2. Lake
Fenton's JV Blue team came back victorious against tough New Lothrup
despite last week's loss by 2 points. QB Logan Herm's throwing arm was almost
perfect for the day connecting with Trent Grimes for an 80 yard TD run. Edward
Walterhouse and Tommy Tompkins provided key lead blocks allowing Brian Goss a 75
yard kick off return TD. Walterhouse completed two beauty extra point attempts.
New Lothrup threatened to score on 1st and goal early on, but defense held with
Matt Engleberts stopping the ball within inches for the turnover on 4th down.
Though middle linebacker Griffin Wakeman suffered a sprain and broken arm
mid-game, the defense held the opposition to only one TD and extra points for a
16-8 win and a 4 and 1 record with one game left in the season. The JV White lost a close game 16-6 against New Lothrop1. The JV Black lost 8-0 against Frankenmuth. After two quick
interceptions were returned for touchdowns early in the varsity game, the Blue
Devil Varsity team found themselves in a 14-0 hole that would be tough
to get out of against a much larger and more experienced New Lothrop team.
In the end the Hornets beat the Blue Devils 34-14. Offensively, Running Back Mitch Kirk took the handoffs from quarterbacks Tommy Williamson and Joe Gerow to lead the Blue Devils with 106 yards on 19 carries with 2 touchdowns and 1 two point conversion. Defensively, Defensive Back Devin Evans had a pass deflection, fumble recovery and an interception which he returned 30 yards to set up a Lake Fenton touchdown. Mitch Kirk led the Devils with 7 tackles, Calvin Williams had 3 while Andrew McGlaughlin, Tommy Williamson and Nate Franks had 2 tackles each. |
