The Blue Devil Freshmen Blue squad continued to show steady improvement Saturday by beating the Bentley Bulldogs 18 to 0.

Neil Allor scored 3 touchdowns and had 118 yards rushing on the day as he was able to take advantage of the fine blocking of Spencer Foerster, Wes Potts, Nevin Donnell, Robert Alexander, Devin Daul, Tyler Wildmo, Colton Schlitters, Zach Webb, Josh Gurski, Brenden Whitney and Peyton Knoll.

Josh Kesler, Raied Jawhari, Kyle Tercheck and Merrick George also were able to find some running room throughout the day.

The defensive unit was once again outstanding, throwing back the only serious scoring threat by the Bulldogs.  Colton Schlitters, Brendan Allen, Anthony Resta, Brenden Davis, Stryker DeGayner, George, Allor and Mitchell Bollinger were all in on several tackles.

The Blue Cheerleaders were at the top of their game all day, as they led the Blue Devil fans in several inspiring cheers throughout the hot afternoon.

The Blue team is in action at home this Saturday in an 11:00 a.m. contest against Birch Run.

The Lake Fenton Freshmen White improved their record to 3-1 with a 30-19 win against Swartz Creek.

The Lake Fenton JV Blue’s record is now 3-1 after losing a heartbreaker to Vassar 10-8 on Saturday in the tough MMRFL JV A division.   “This was a tough loss for the kids but we are so proud of their effort, today was our best game”, head coach Scott Herm was quoted as saying.

The JV blue team has allowed only two touchdowns in four games. The defense was lead by Robert Sparks, Tyler Frey, Justin Short, Daniel Dale, Matt Engleberts, Mark Kotula, Daniel Resta, and Tommie Tompkins.  “The key to our team has been defense all year, the kids showed a tremendous amount of heart keeping Vassar out of the end zone from the two yard line on four straight plays” said defensive coach Neil Wakeman.

Offensive coach Terry Grimes said, “I thought we were in for a very long day when we gave up a safety on our first play but these kids never gave up or stopped working, what an effort!”

Logan Herm connected with Brian Goss for a 48 yard pass that set up Edward Walterhouse’s bruising two yard touchdown run. Walterhouse added the extra point for all eight of the team’s points. The JV Blue line was considerably smaller but did not allow a sack on seven passing plays.  The line was anchored by Kiel Cole, Mark Kotula, Tyler Donnelly, Luke Idoni, Tyler Frey, and Daniel Dale.  Zach O’Brien made some great blocks from the starting split end position.   The team has New Lothrup and Atherton remaining on their tough schedule.

The JV White team fell to Bentley 25-12

The JV Black team lost 14-6 to Carmen Ainsworth.

The Lake Fenton Varsity team had an exciting come from behind victory against Bentley.  Trailing 20-8 at halftime, the team scored 14 unanswered points.  Running Back Mitch Kirk sprinted around the end for 3 touchdowns and also 1 two point conversion.  Quarterback Cory Pierce also scored a two point conversion.  The offensive line of Alex Okopien, Andrew McGlaughlin, Jacob Vaillancourt, Jeff Heller, Brett Braund, Calvin Williams and Nate Franks played solid all day opening holes.  Wide Receiver Devin Evans also had a fourth quarter pass reception on 3rd and 12 for a key first down late in the game.

The defense rallied for a solid 2nd half with 2 blocked punts, a fumble recovery, forced fumbles and pass deflections.

For the day, workhorse running back and back-up quarterback Mitch Kirk had 179 yards on 21 carries for an average of 8.5 yards per carry.
