The Lake Fenton Youth Program kicked off it's 11th season by competing at
perennial state powerhouse Montrose on Saturday, September 10th.
The Blue Devils were able to match the high school varsity and junior
varsity teams success by going 4-1 against Montrose.
The Lake Fenton Freshmen Blue Team
opened up it's season on a positive note, winning 14-0. Neil Allor
opened the scoring on the opening drive of the game, scoring on a 65 yard run
around the right end. Kyle Tercheck scored the conversion on a nice 3
yard scamper. The Blue Devils added to their 7-0 halftime lead in the
3rd quarter as Allor scored again on a tough 12 yard run, breaking several
tackles along the way. Colton Schlitters, Brendon Whitney, Brendon
Davis, Thomas Talbot, Stryker DeGayner and Tyler Wildmo opened up several
holes for the running backs on the scoring drive. Merrick George passed
to Neil Allor for the conversion as he rolled around left end and hit a wide
open Allor.
The defense was solid all day, led by Davis, Allor, Schlitters and George. Montrose was never able to mount a serious threat as the Blue Devils were aggressive and swarmed to the ball. The Freshmen Blue Cheerleaders also had an outstanding day as they cheered loud and hard all day, inspiring the crowd to support the Blue Devils! Great job girls.
Freshmen White squad controlled the
game from start to finish and won handily, 34 - 7. Quarterback Justin
Rabidoux led the Blue Devil's with two Touchdown runs. Mac
Hamilton, Carson Whaley, and Ben Thornton each rushed for a Touchdown, behind
the strong offensive line of Paul Idoni, Nick Stewart, Gunner Lamb, Mitchel
Dershem, Kenny Whitaker, Jacob Knight and Dave Ragatz. The Blue
Devil's defense led by tackles from Shabo Gorial, Tanner North, and Tyler
Carlton, held Montrose to a single Touchdown.
Lake Fenton’s JV Blue Youth Football
team, led by quarterback Logan Herm, beat Montrose JV1 team 22-6. The
offensive line made up of Daniel Dale, Mark Kotula, Luke Idoni, Ben Mikolajzck
and Tyler Donnelly paved the way for Touchdown runs by Trent Grimes, Brian
Goss and Edward Walterhouse. The defense shut down the Ram offense and was led
by Griffin Wakeman, Mathew Engleberts, Tyler Frey and Noah Tolbert each having
several tackles for a loss.
JV White triumphed 18 - 6. Chris
Bence scored two touch downs and Devon Beagle scored on a 40 yard pass play.
Offensive line players (including Alex Mertz, Tyler Mertz, Stephen Herd,
Dominc Melton, Joe Boughner, and Kyle Felix) opened holes for runners and had
great pass blocking. Austin Demoss capped the win with a interception on
the goal line.
Lake Fenton Youth Varsity suffered an
opening day loss to Montrose 15 - 8. The opening kickoff to Montrose returned
for a touchdown proved to be the difference in the game. Despite the loss, the
kids gave a solid effort in this close match, including Lake Fenton's Mitchell
Kirk and Corey Pierce.
All of the Lake Fenton cheer teams dominated on the sidelines and pumped up the crowds, despite the hot weather! Thanks for helping to keep the excitement up! |
